How a count works
Four steps
Start a count
Count everything at a location, or only products matching a filter such as vendor, type, tag or collection. The app records Shopify's current stock level for each item.
Count
Scan barcodes or type quantities. Several people can count at once, each with a label such as "Aisle 3".
Review
See expected and counted quantities side by side. Filter to differences, uncounted items or items that changed in Shopify.
Update Shopify
Apply the differences. If something is wrong, undo the whole count with one click.
Safe updates
Sales during a count are never overwritten
If an item sells while you're counting, the stock level in Shopify changes. Tallyo checks for this before every update.
An item is updated only if Shopify's stock level is still what it was when the count started. If it changed, the item is skipped and marked so you can recount it.
Every count keeps the before and after values, so you can restore the previous stock levels.
Who counted what, when, and what was applied.
Tallyo reads products, locations and stock levels only. It doesn't access orders or customers.
